Activision is ending support for Warzone Mobile due to performance concerns. The game attracted 45 million pre-launch sign-ups and generated impressive revenue – $1.4 million within four days of its March 2024 release. According to Statista, it continued earning $490,000 as recently as February 2025.
Despite these figures, Activision determined the game fell short of their targets, particularly among mobile gamers.
Official Statement and Timeline
The company explained: “While we’re proud of bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile authentically, it hasn’t met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.”
Effective immediately, purchases of Call of Duty Points or Black Cell using real money are disabled. The final day for downloading the game from Google Play and Apple’s App Store will be Sunday, May 18, 2025, when social features across both platforms will also end.
What This Means for Players
Players who downloaded Warzone Mobile before May 19 will retain access, with cross-progression of shared inventories still functional. The servers remain active for online matchmaking, but no further gameplay updates or seasonal content will be released.
Players can redeem unused CoD Points toward in-game content through the official website. However, refunds for previously purchased content or unused points won’t be offered.
Activision has not specified when the servers will permanently shut down.
This decision comes despite apparent financial success, signaling Activision’s strict performance standards for their mobile gaming portfolio and their focus on experiences that resonate across all gaming platforms.
