Capcom is bringing back beloved characters from its lesser-known fighting game franchises in the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
A recently released trailer for the remaster showcases one of the standout additions: Frank West’s costume inspired by the BX-02 Blodia mech from Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness. This inclusion is part of the Capcom Fighters Pack, which seeks to celebrate the company’s rich fighting game history.
Cyberbots’ Legacy Lives On
The Blodia mech, originally piloted by Jin Saotome, has been masterfully adapted to fit Frank West’s frame. The developers have done an impressive job translating the iconic red mech into modern 3D graphics, complete with battle-worn details and scuffs on the armor. While the shield, floating bit satellite, and pile bunker weapon are likely just cosmetic additions, their presence adds authenticity to the costume.
For those unfamiliar with Cyberbots, it was an arcade game released in 1995, with subsequent Japanese-only ports for the Sega Saturn and PlayStation in 1997. Despite its innovative concept of mech-piloting fighters, the game didn’t achieve the same level of success as Street Fighter or Marvel vs. Capcom. However, its characters have made appearances in various Capcom titles over the years, keeping the franchise’s spirit alive.
More Fighters Join the Fray
The Capcom Fighters Pack doesn’t stop at Cyberbots. Fans can look forward to costumes inspired by other beloved characters, including Darkstalkers’ Rikuo, Street Fighter’s Ken Masters, and Final Fight’s Sodom. Each costume will be accompanied by music from their respective games, adding an extra layer of nostalgia to the experience.
The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will also feature additional costume packs inspired by Mega Man and Resident Evil, further expanding the crossover potential. These extra goodies will be available in the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game.
The Dead Rising series has a history of referencing Capcom’s fighters, and this remaster continues that tradition in grand style.
Players can enjoy these classic additions when Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster launches digitally on September 19, with a physical release following on November 8. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, giving fans multiple platforms to enjoy this revamped classic.
