Bam Margera will make his return to the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series in the upcoming remake of 3 + 4, but players will need to unlock him first.
Fans noticed Margera’s absence when Activision announced the remake in March. The professional skater had appeared in every game since Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, so many wondered why he wasn’t included in the initial roster.
Activision confirmed his inclusion through social media, sharing a video where Margera jokes about missing flights because he got too absorbed playing the second game in the series.
Tony Hawk Pushed for Margera’s Inclusion
According to Roger Bagley, co-host of skating podcast The Nine Club, it was Tony Hawk himself who insisted on Margera’s inclusion. During a livestream, Bagley explained that the game was already complete when Hawk called Activision executives.
“Tony called up Activision and was like, ‘Hey, we’re putting Bam in the thing,'” Bagley said. When they resisted, Hawk reportedly told them, “No, you’re gonna do it,” and made them fly Margera in for body-scanning to get him into the game.
This last-minute addition likely explains why Margera will be a secret unlockable character rather than available from the start.
Game Details and Roster
The confirmed skater lineup features both veterans and newcomers, including Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Elissa Steamer, Chad Muska, Rayssa Leal, Chloe Covell, and Yuto Horigome among others.
Players should know about changes to the fourth game’s career mode – objectives must now be completed under time pressure instead of free exploration.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 launches July 11th across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam, Battle.net, and Microsoft Store). The game will also be available on Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass PC.
