Lenovo Legion G9 Makes Mobile Gaming Feel Just Like a Console

Lenovo just launched the Legion G9 controller in China, priced at CNY 399 (approximately $55). This accessory transforms the recently released Y700 tablet into a portable gaming device that rivals dedicated handhelds.

The Legion G9 controller works exclusively with Lenovo’s Y700 gaming tablet. Once attached, users get a gaming experience that feels remarkably similar to popular handheld consoles. The price point positions it competitively against premium gaming controllers on the market.

Advanced Gaming Technology

What makes this controller stand out is its use of Hall Effect technology for both analog sticks and triggers. Hall Effect sticks last longer than traditional analog versions and resist the dreaded stick drift problem that plagues many controllers. The triggers also benefit from this technology, delivering faster response times during gameplay.

The controller includes four programmable macro buttons on the rear panel. These extra buttons give players additional control options, which can be crucial during competitive gaming sessions. Each button can be customized to perform specific functions.

Practical Design Features

Lenovo designed the G9 with practical considerations in mind. The controller features ventilation holes that help keep the tablet cool during extended gaming sessions. Connection happens through a USB-C port, which the company says reduces input lag for more responsive gameplay.

Pro Version Coming Soon

During the same launch event, Lenovo revealed the G9 Pro variant. This upgraded version includes enhanced vibration motors and optical ABXY buttons for improved tactile feedback. The Pro model will become available later, though exact timing remains unclear.

Currently, both the controller and Y700 tablet are only available in China. Lenovo hasn’t announced plans to bring these products to international markets yet.
