Nintendo Launches Another Secret Test for Switch Online Players

Nintendo has revealed plans for another round of testing through their Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program. This upcoming test will examine the same service they evaluated during their mysterious October trial last year.

During the previous testing phase, Nintendo requested participants maintain confidentiality about the experience. However, leaked information suggested the company was developing an MMO-style gaming experience. The nature of this project remains officially unconfirmed by Nintendo.

Application Requirements and Process

To join this testing program, applicants must be 18 years or older and maintain an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. Additionally, your Nintendo Account must be registered in one of these supported regions: Japan, United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada, Brazil, or Mexico.

Individual applications are welcome, though groups of up to four people can apply together if all members meet the eligibility criteria. The application preparation window opens Friday, July 18th at 6PM ET and closes Monday, July 21st at 10:59AM ET.

Timeline and Participant Numbers

Actual application submissions begin Monday, July 21st at 11AM ET and continue through Wednesday, July 23rd at 10:59AM ET. Nintendo will process applications on a first-come, first-served basis, so early submission is recommended.

The company plans to accept up to 40,000 participants globally, representing a significant increase from the 10,000 spots available during October’s testing phase. Previous playtest participants remain eligible to apply for this new round.

The actual testing period runs from Monday, July 28th at 9PM ET through Sunday, August 10th at 8:59PM ET, giving participants nearly two weeks to explore the service.
