Nintendo Switch 2 Game Cards and Joy-Con Colors Just Got More Fun

The new Switch 2 game cards look strikingly similar to the original ones, just with a red color instead. This makes sense since the new console will play physical Switch 1 games too.

Nintendo has revealed their official Switch 2 carrying case, which provides space for the console, various accessories, and game cards, following the practical design approach of the original case.

Launch and Game Updates

[Switch 2]

Here's a look inside the official Switch 2 carrying case. It has room for the console with the Joy-Con 2 attached, six cartridges, and two Joy-Con 2 straps.

(Also, Switch 2 cartridges seem to be the same size as Switch 1 cartridges, to no one's surprise.)

The Nintendo Switch 2 launches June 5th. What I found particularly interesting is that Nintendo has announced free updates for 12 existing Switch games at launch. These include major titles like Super Mario Odyssey, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

New Features

A standout addition is GameShare support for certain titles. This feature allows players with multiple consoles (either Switch or Switch 2) to enjoy multiplayer using just one copy of the game.

The colored panels on the Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers can be removed, and some stores are already selling custom options so you can make your setup your own.
