PlayStation Fans Just Bought Two Million Copies of Forza Horizon 5

I knew PlayStation 5 players wanted Forza Horizon 5 badly, but the actual sales numbers left me shocked. The racing game sold an incredible two million copies during its first month on Sony’s console alone.

This impressive figure comes from Harrison Bolin, a former Turn 10 Game and Level Designer who recently lost his job during Microsoft’s layoffs. In his professional resume, he mentioned creating cross-platform features that helped Forza Horizon 5 reach this milestone on PS5.

The numbers become even more impressive when you realize this game originally launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC back in 2021. PlayStation fans waited nearly four years to get their hands on this open-world racing experience.

PlayStation Racing Game Drought

PlayStation 5 owners have been starving for good arcade racing games. Sony stopped making MotorStorm games years ago, and EA barely releases Need for Speed titles anymore. For the longest time, The Crew was basically the only decent racing option available.

This gaming drought explains why Forza Horizon 5 performed so well on PlayStation. Racing fans finally got the arcade-style game they had been craving for years.

Future Forza Games Coming to PlayStation

Microsoft already announced plans for a new Forza game next year. Given that Turn 10 lost half their staff recently, I expect Playground Games will handle the next project – likely Forza Horizon 6.

If Microsoft releases this new game on PlayStation 5 from day one, it could easily become one of 2026’s biggest sellers. The demand is clearly there, and PlayStation racing fans are ready to buy.
