Stellar Blade has made its way to PC after spending over a year exclusively on PlayStation 5. Sony published this version too, making it fascinating to see how it performs compared to other Sony titles on Steam.
The numbers tell an impressive story. SteamDB data shows Stellar Blade reached 183.8K concurrent players just nineteen hours after launch. This figure completely destroys every previous single-player Sony game on Steam. The weekend could push these numbers even higher since more people typically game during their free time.
How Stellar Blade Compares to Other Sony PC Releases
Before Stellar Blade’s arrival, Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut held the crown with 77.1K concurrent users. However, this game includes multiplayer content through its Legends mode, so God of War might be a fairer comparison at 73.5K players for pure single-player experiences.
Looking at the full picture, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered hit 66.4K players while Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition reached 56.5K. Surprisingly, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition only managed 40.4K players – significantly lower than its predecessor. The Last of Us Part I grabbed 36.4K concurrent users, just ahead of God of War Ragnarok at 35.6K.
The pattern continues down the list: The Last of Us Part II Remastered peaked at 30.6K, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at 28.1K, and Days Gone at 27.4K. All remaining Sony PC ports performed much worse than these titles.
What Makes These Numbers Special
One interesting trend emerges from this data – first games in series consistently outperform their sequels on Steam. This holds true across multiple franchises in Sony’s PC catalog.
Stellar Blade earned critical praise and sold well enough on PlayStation 5 to secure a sequel. Many other Sony games actually received higher review scores despite lower Steam player counts, making Stellar Blade’s performance particularly noteworthy.
This record might not last long though. Lost Soul Aside launches simultaneously on PC and consoles this August 29th, becoming Sony’s first single-player day-one PC release. If the game receives positive reviews, this simultaneous launch strategy could generate even more interest and potentially break Stellar Blade’s new record.
